Design 101 for Web Developers (Ghent))

We see a lot of web applications that are hostile to users instead of users friendly. There's too much ugly websites out there. They are built by developers, not paying any attention to how end users will use their software. On the other hand, we see designers handing over Photoshop comps to the development team with tons of difficult-to-realize and unmaintainable effects, not taking into account any conventions about the underlying web framework for example.

There is no need for this!

A basic knowledge of web (application) design and user interfaces will make developer-made screens look a lot better. These designs will not win any design contest, but hey, that's not the goal neither. By paying a little attention to to padding, alignment, typography and other basic design and UI principles, developers could actually build acceptable designs and UI interfaces.

For who?

This workshop is for web (application) developers that want to learn the design and UI basics. Any developer working with Ruby on Rails, PHP or other framework should feel at home. You do not need any design or UI knowledge. Note: since we go for quality and not for quantity, there is a maximum of 15 participants.
About the organisors
The workshop is organised by Zorros, specialized in web applications and online software, and will be given by Wolf (Johan Ronsse), a former Netlash designer and now fulltime freelancer.
